Four Week Summer Intensive

The TSS 4-Week Summer Intensive incorporates an intense, hands-on approach to three areas of study in the actor’s development: Acting Technique, Vocal Production and On-Camera Acting. Each component of this vigorous program is designed to deepen the actor’s sense of truth and comfort in his/ her work. Within the framework of behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances, the actor will explore character creation, needs, obstacles, and being in the moment.

On-Camera Acting
(Peter Miner) will include improvisation, action work, character monologues and action verb exercises. Actors will move to in-depth work on a scene from film or television. Students will also be offered the opportunity to be camera operators.

Acting Technique
(Susan Pilar) will include a wide variety of individual and group exercises to open up and develop each actor’s instrument and fine tune the actor’s listening and responding skills.

Vocal Production (Page Clements) will assist the actor’s instrument communicate and achieve a more expressive voice, allowing for a connection to a wider range of emotions. Exercises will strengthen breath control and support, release tension in the voice, improve articulation and diminish regional accents.

Mondays:

Wednesdays:
2:00PM – 6:00PM Acting Technique

Thursdays:
2:00PM – 6:00PM On-Camera Technique

Admission is based on an interview/audition consisting of a 2-minute contemporary monologue. For an appointment, call 212-741-0209.

Please Include with this Application:

  • One (1) letter of recommendation- must be sent separately. (Must include address and telephone number of the referring party. The letter should be from instructors, industry professionals, or persons who can recommend the applicant’s character, potential and commitment)
  • One (1) picture and resume (description of applicant’s acting experience)
  • A $75 non-refundable application fee (payable to T. Schreiber Studio, Inc.)
  • Interview/Audition consisiting of a 2-minute contemporary monologue. Call the studio for an appointment.
  • Out-of-town applicants only: DVD/weblink of 2 contrasting monologues
  • International students whose native language is other than English must demonstrate sufficient competence with spoken and written English. This is a necessary step to prevent problems with faculty and student verbal communications that might impede a student’s learning and development. This proficiency is determined through the application and audition process.

Tuition: $1,400 (plus $75 registration fee for new students)
