We are thrilled to partner with NYC’s The Ume Group to present our Physical Theatre and Devising Intensive. In this course, students work under the direction of The Ume Group’s Artistic Director, Keelie Sheridan and Associate Artistic Director, Yokko, to grasp the fundamentals of creating devised, ensemble-based physical theatre works. Techniques and practices introduced include butoh, yoga, contact improv, Viewpoints, Laban Movement Analysis, Lecoq’s Elements, Neutral Mask and Trish Arnold movement. Participants are guided through a journey of skill-building, collaboration and impulse-work, culminating in the workshop presentation of a newly devised piece of physical theatre.

Our On-Camera Summer Intensive incorporates an intense, hands-on approach to developing an actor’s craft with a focus on film and television, including Acting Technique, On-Camera Acting and Reel Workshop. Each component of this vigorous program is designed to deepen the actor’s truthfulness and comfort in his/her work. Within the framework of behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances you will explore character creation, needs, obstacles, and being in the moment. Each actor will shoot a new scene for their reel, written specifically for them with their career goals in mind, shot with top of the line equipment and fully edited.
On-Camera includes improvisation, action work, character monologues and action verb exercises. You will move to in-depth work on a scene from film or television. Students will also be offered the opportunity to be camera operators.
Acting Technique includes a wide variety of individual and group exercises to open up and develop each actor’s instrument and fine tune the actor’s listening and responding skills. Work will include preceding moments, objectives, and personalizations. Focus will be on activating material quickly and instinctively.
Work with the industry’s leading demo reel production company, REELARC to create, develop, and shoot original material specifically for YOU. Your scene will be fully edited and ready for your reel. This new class, crafted exclusively for T. Schreiber Studio, brings a cinema-quality Reel Workshop to our actors, giving you the tools you need to get cast.
Admission is based on an interview/audition consisting of a 2-minute contemporary monologue. Out-of-town applicants may send a DVD/web link of two contrasting monologues. Please also provide a picture and resume. One letter of recommendation must be sent separately.
