Kristin Eli Smith (cast as Joley at 30 years old)  talks about the first read-through:

Ah yes, it is thrilling as we dive into the first few days of production for Blood Sky. Eagerly, the cast and production team gather for a round table, first read and discussion, where the table is actually shaped like a “T”. How fitting Terry Schreiber. The creativity, energy and committment that is already filling the room is sure to be followed by something exciting.”

Victoria Guthrie (cast as Lily) shares her thoughts about Terry’s attention to every detail in the text:

VictoriaGuthrieTable work is usually the first step of a rehearsal process. The rehearsal process for “Blood Sky” began with two days of table work. Day 1 we met everyone, read the script and brainstormed for ideas on getting special groups, press and industry to attend the show. Day 2 was a long but fulfilling process of breaking down all of the beats and punctuation/thought processes of the play. Try putting slashes after the punctuation in a script. It’s amazing how the nuances of the meaning of the words becomes more clear. Things like a slight pause before saying someone’s name.. ie You tell me, Joley. Try reading it once with no pause and once with a pause where the comma is. Simple but efficient. Thanks for reinforcing that Terry!

In the lobby with Tim Weinert (cast as Guy) during his costume fitting, I asked Tim to answer this simple question:  What is it like working with Terry Schreiber?

TimWeinert“Working with Terry is a joy.  He has this ability to see people deep down for what they truly are and it’s this deep instinct he has for people.  Like…you end up going in this direction and you get done and you feel like you haven’t been directed at all. What he does…he sees these instincts…that you may have deep down…and he suggests things and you kind of work from there and what it does is it creates this kind of safe haven for creativity.  It’s this amazing place where you really feel like you can go after whatever instinct you might have and in whatever direction you might want to go with the character.”
