A Deeper Understanding of the Basic Elements of Theatre

Engage in Cutting Edge Performance Creation

“My number one wish for actors is that they realize they are unique from every other actor/artist/human on this planet, and that they always and forever create from that place.”

Justin Cimino

In this exciting and unique performance workshop led by Justin Cimino, you’ll create a full-length original piece of theater with an ensemble of your peers. You will be introduced to imaginative, improvisational, devising techniques and find yourself in a radically different kind of material-generating process, rehearsal, and performance.

The ensemble will create something that could have only come from this unique group of artists. Process over product, out of your head, into your heart. It’ll be physical, fast, and fun. By taking this performance workshop you'll expand your creativity, your imagination, and your artistry, and you'll learn a skill crucial in today’s industry: creating your own work.

This workshop concludes with a performance for an invited audience.

Moment Work— The Tectonic Theater Project's The Laramie Project devising process—-which mines theater's essential elements (text, movement, light, sound, costume) to tell a story from a simple, fundamental place.

Clown work--which mines the child-like, unsocialized actor who is out of their head, leaving ego aside, and discovering new depths of creativity and emotion.
