“I was searching for a playwriting class, I audited three different teachers and none were the right fit. By chance, I read about Terry Schreiber’s ’Script Analysis’ class for actors and directors. I had watched a ‘YouTube’ with Tony award playwright, Simon Stephens- in it, he said ‘script analysis’ was a great tool for playwrights when it’s time for rewrites. I signed up for Terry’s six week course- four hours every Thursday (with homework!) The sessions were exactly what I was searching for. Terry’s passion and knowledge of the theater energized me and being in a class with actors and directors gave me a new perspective of the collaborate spirit of theater. Now, when I rewrite a play, the tools I learned from the ‘script analysis’ class take me from confusion to clarity. I now enjoy the rewriting process! I highly recommend this class.”- Sheila Walsh, Playwright

SCRIPT: The Homecoming – one of Harold Pinter’s most tumultuous plays.
Terry Schreiber brings 48 years of directing and teaching to this special summer Script Analysis workshop. Influenced by the work of Harold Clurman, Terry will give actors, directors and playwrights the steps to prepare a script and full production book. Concentration will be on the use of theme, spine, event metaphor, actions and behavior. This process will fully prepare the actor for auditions, building the character and rehearsals. The director will be given an invaluable blueprint for casting, rehearsing, and communicating with designers. The playwright will deepen their understanding of character, theme and the construction of a well-made play. It will be an intense 6 week class including homework and working with partners. Enrollment is limited to 10 people. By interview or teacher recommendation.
