The renowned One Year Conservatory at the T. Schreiber Studio is designed to prepare actors for a thriving career in theatre, film, and television. Our full-time, professional New York City acting program offers diverse classes to facilitate your growth as a versatile, developed actor. Conservatory students receive intensive training in all aspects necessary for industry success—including acting methods to fully inhabit your character, best practices and audition techniques, and the business of casting, whether in person or online.

An intensive acting program can give actors the time, training and environment needed to make significant progress in their craft. At T. Schreiber Studio, Conservatory students train alongside other dedicated actors, creating a collaborative community where they can develop their skills through regular practice and performance.

The One Year Conservatory also provides access to experienced industry professionals who understand the realities of building a career in theatre, film and television. Students benefit from faculty whose combined experience spans decades of professional theatre and on-camera work.

The immersive nature of the program allows actors to focus deeply on their craft while developing the confidence, technique and professional skills needed for a sustainable acting career.

The One Year Conservatory combines acting technique, performance experience and practical industry training to help prepare students for the next stage of their careers.

After seven months of intensive training and development, students move into the final stage of the program, which focuses on putting their skills into practice and preparing professional materials.

One key component is developing material for an acting reel. Students work with scenes that allow them to showcase their range and abilities, helping them create material that can make a strong first impression with casting professionals.

The Conservatory also concludes with a performance workshop. Students come together as a company to tell a single story for a live audience under the guidance of a professional director.

This final performance experience reflects the Studio’s belief that actors grow through the opportunity to use their skills in front of an audience. It allows Conservatory students to commit fully to their characters, connect authentically with an audience and put their training into practice.

Ultimately, the goal of the One Year Conservatory is to provide actors with the technique, professional training and industry knowledge they need to pursue a successful acting career.

We’ll ask you for a self tape, but don't worry if you don’t have one or aren’t familiar with the self-tape process. There are other options for your audition, like Zoom or Skype . . . or, if you’re in the city, we encourage you to come see us in person at the Studio, which will give you the chance to see our space firsthand!  

You’ll also be asked to provide a brief statement (length of 250 words is suggested but can be longer if you choose) about why you want to spend a year intensively training for your acting career with us and what you hope to get out of the experience.
