Beginning Meisner Technique

Meisner Technique Acting Class

Study the Work of a Master: Beginning Meisner Technique

Instructor: Robert Verlaque

Our Beginning Meisner Technique class is a great choice for actors who are just starting out with their acting studies. This is an introduction to master instructor Sanford Meisner’s approach for developing a strong foundation for acting technique. He has said his approach to training “is based on bringing the actor back to his emotional impulses and to acting that is firmly rooted in the instinctive. It is based on the fact that all good acting comes from the heart, as it were, and that there’s no mentality to it.” Join the ranks of A-list actors who have all been trained in the Meisner Technique including Stephen Colbert, Tom Cruise, Michelle Pfeiffer, Alec Baldwin, and Diane Keaton.

This introductory Meisner Technique class focuses on putting together the fundamentals of a solid acting technique with a step-by-step approach to working on stage and screen. This beginner class features a series of structured Meisner exercises that provide a beginning actor vital tools:

  • Open, honest listening and responding.
  • Developed instincts and imagination.
  • Building in confidence and trusting impulses.

Additionally, this Meisner Technique class is a progression of building an acting exercise that develops the actor’s ability to work organically, and create truthfully expressive behavior in acting. The acting class covers beginning Meisner techniques including word repetition through its application, beginning improvisation exercises, and a first set of corresponding scenes.

This 6-week comprehensive course meets twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.
