Uta Hagen, Respect for Acting
Are you eager to be introduced to multiple acting techniques? This online experience was designed to introduce actors to three of the most significant acting techniques used by successful actors today: those created by Uta Hagen, Lee Strasberg, and Sanford Meisner. Learn how to use sensory work, repetition, substitutions, specificity, and more to create layered and provocative performances. Taught by T. Schreiber Studio's Artistic Director Peter Jensen, this class meets once a week online and requires homework outside of class.

Who are Hagen, Strasberg, and Meisner?
Uta Hagen, Lee Strasberg, and Sanford Meisner were three members of The Group Theater that formed around the early teachings of Stanislavski. Each teacher took their own unique perspective from the Group and began their own approach. They taught in New York from the 1950s-1990s and are three of the most influential acting teachers in contemporary American acting.

Prior to joining T. Schreiber Studio & Theatre as Artistic Director, Peter Jensen was a member of the Core Faculty of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and served as the 3rd year Academy Company Director. He studied with Terry Schreiber, Uta Hagen, Chuck Olsen (Actor’s Studio), 78th Street Theatre Lab. Directing credits at T. Schreiber include Hot L Baltimore, nominated for NYIT Outstanding Production, Balm in Gilead winner of the 2011 NYIT Award for Outstanding Production The Pillowman, Lobby Hero, Joking Apart, Hurlyburly, A Taste of Honey, Marvin’s Room, You Can’t Take It With You, The Real Inspector Hound, The Actor’s Nightmare, Fifth of July and Doubt.
