Boal Patron Path

The Boal Patron Path Includes:

  • An invitation for you or a friend to join our Acting for Non-Actors class.
  • An exclusive talk by Ph.D. Gillian Riley Nogerie about how theatre builds community beyond the Proscenium arch
  • Two Tickets to opening night of the Schreiber Shorts and invitation to our opening night party.

Gillian’s passion lies in building community through theatrical practice. She is deeply curious about what happens when you leave the realm of professional theater and bring that theater to communities in need. She obtained her Master’s degree with research focusing on the study of Shakespeare in prisons to reduce recidivism. Drawing on new research in cognitive neuroscience, her Ph.D. dissertation explored the ways that theatrical practices can be used to enhance the communicative abilities of individuals with aphasia. As our Managing Director, Gillian, using the practices of Augusto Boal, will offer an experience designed around participation and community-building.

Becoming a Boal Patron is about supporting the community. Theater is the antidote to social media and our phones. In theatrical practices, we are present, expressive, and connected. Your gift will help us to support our community through events that bring us together.

In the Boal Patron Path, you will dive into the acting process and learn how acting can help you in a score of transferable skill sets. Join Gillian’s Acting for Non Actors class. In a supportive environment learn theatrical games and techniques and watch as they bolster your self confidence, communication skills, and appreciation of the artistic journey.
